Enjoying neocities so far!

2025/09/17, Kell

This is our second go around at a neocities site, and I think our ease in using html has improved. I'm happy with Confluence's layout and appearance, it makes me think of times where I would visit the beach on an overcast day and look around, avoiding odorous, squelchy kelp and keeping my eyes peeled for signs of life. Finding overturned trees that had become dry, pale driftwood; fragments of giants.

I still haven't learned how to indent, but I sort of enjoy the lack of indentation. It has that simple Wikipedia charm. Besides, having to indent would just be a hassle, I think. If I were to apply it to anything I'd apply it to the prose based pages.

Still trying to keep this whole affair casual and fun so we don't get burnout. It's all to easy to slip into an impassioned frenzy of working working working until crash! It becomes an insurmountable chore. Nevertehless it is very rewarding to work on! I feel like the progress is far more visually sound compared to an ever-lengthening google document. The organizational potential alone has made this all so very worthwhile. I'm almost tempted to create a similar site for my setting Verdens, among other things, but that can (and should) wait.

You've probably noticed I keep saying "we" and "our" -- if you aren't one of the various friends we've linked this site to, then an introduction is in order. Hi! I'm Kell, I'm one of the people who makes up Clovers in Kind, which is just a collective name for our system. We have Dissociative Identity Disorder, and after years of trying not to talk about it too much we're starting to get more comfortable about saying it. A lot of work has been put into learning how to function and create things collaboratively, and this site is just one example of what can be accomplished with enough communication and support. We work as a team, and wouldn't change that for the world.

But anyway, about me specifically--I'm some dork hailing from British Columbia Canada who now lives across the country and likes to write and draw original stuff, mostly fantasy or loosely introspective works. I love games like Hollow Knight and Rain World, I have a soft spot for Jim Henson's many creative works and old animated movies, I'm an animal nerd, I'm a passionate but inexperienced linguistics nerd, I sing, I sew...I do a lot! I can never stop finding different things to chew on and fascinate over. I'm also one of those nature obsessed therian people you hear about occasionally. That pretty much covers it, haha.

So, all in all, very happy to be on neocities and with such a fun project to boot. A big thank you goes to Searrach for the motivation to give this all a try, and of course an excuse to talk about funny creature people for days on end. Looking forward to more updates :)

FEATURE OF THE DAY: Honeyflies! I put honeybees in Confluence. Just regular old bees. Maybe someday we will draw an actual critter portrait but for now I'm too tickled by the jarringly realistic photo.
