Established Locations
Arra
Sharing its name with the legendary figure Land, who's body is the very earth that rises from the ocean, Arra is what the main clump of relevant landmasses and islands is generally referred to as. Therefore the land of Arra is what one from another continent may call this place, but as far as the peoples of Arra know, they are alone.
The Heart
A large central marginal sea/gulf regarded as the middle of Arra.
The Serpent
A winding mass of land connected to the mainland by a single bridge at its northmost point. A dense jungle covers its span. Legends say a great serpent's head was cut from its body as a punishment, and when the Serpent died it turned to stone. There are many variations of this story depending on who's telling it. Peninsulas serve as its “legs.”
Serpent’s Head
A large island just south of The Serpent, regarded as its “head.” See above.
Serpent’s gulf
A gulf north of The Serpent, self explanatory.
Tailtip Strait
The connecting strait between the surrounding ocean and Serpent’s gulf.
Fang island
Northeast of Serpent's Head, in the upper half of the Heart. A sacred place.
The Gullet
An inlet with a narrow, jagged shape on the Heart's right coast. Fishing is excellent here.
Pathstone Flats
A karst region where most water drains through the rock, located near the Gullet.
Confluence
Named not for the presence of a river confluence, but rather its function as a gathering place. It is located in the Pathstone Flats, directly above The Gullet.
Soaal's Grasp
On Arra's northeast shores exist mountainous ridges with valleys too challenging to inhabit. Great rivers run down the lengths of these valleys. This area is named for the myth of the sea, Soaal, desperately trying to drag back the land, Arra.
Icepeaks
A glacier rich area riddled with caves of stone and ice, to the east of Soall's Grasp.
Tilsunny island
An island thick with fruiting trees and a healthy bird population. Was originally “Still-Sunny” island, but it got shortened over time. It is named for the generally nice weather. It’s considered treaty grounds. No-one’s blood is to be drawn on the island.
- Note: just pretend this name works in whatever in-universe language this originated from. It would be something equivalent.
Redshore
A place where the sands and surrounding cliffs are red due to high iron content. A spot convenient to harvest material for dyes (such as iron mordant).
Arra's Throat
South of Serpent's Head, where rests a large, jagged inlet.
Arra's Tongue
A large island just above Arra's Throat, with three smaller islands between itself and Serpent's Head.
