Physiology

Quell bats are small, with a body roughly the size of an adult kipsang's head, with a wingspan of ~10". They are typically ruddy brown in color, with pointed ears and a modest snout containing sharp teeth.

Overview

The quell-bat is a hemovorous species of bat native to the Serpent and surrounding forests. It is a domesticated species bred for the painkilling properties of its saliva. The species was developed by kipsang after the discovery of this natural painkiller, and the fairly amicable nature of the bats made the process of domestication smooth. The bats are easily trained, sociable, and deliver a significant amount of relief to creatures in pain, though the larger the animal, the more diluted the effect. (Lissa, for example.)

These bats often supplement their blood-based diet with insects, though the most common feeding method for quell-bat owners is to allow them to drink their blood at regular intervals.
